Latest Offer
This offer was sent out on 15th November 2011; stock lists updated 18/11.
The fruits of our autumnal harvest are now gathered in store, and we barely have room to turn around – so it must be time to sell some ! The selection this time is so broad that it is appended below as an Excel (or pdf) file for you to browse at leisure.
Because of the size of the offer, I have broken it down into sections:
The “A” List
Packed with serious (and seriously priced) delights, such as 2009 Roumier, Bachelet Charmes from ’85 and ’88, de Vogue ’99 Musigny and Dujac ’93 Roche. etc etc.
Full Cases
A big spread of wines in case quantities, from Arlot to Voillot. We will split these (and price pro rata) but full case orders will be given precedence.
Particularly of note are two wines which we have picked up in good quantity and can offer at VERY competitive prices. Prices vary with order size:
Joseph Voillot 2005 Volnay 1er Fremiets
Not a famous name, but great reviews from Allen Meadows (90-93) and Bill Nanson. A bit tight at the moment, this is one to stick in the cellar for a few years.
From £ 31/bt all in.
Rene Engel 2003 Clos Vougeot
Both producer and vintage are getting re-evaluated to the upside. Add in one of the (IMO) best performing terroirs of the vintage, for a great result. Drink or keep.
I am sure this will never be cheaper – from £ 55/bt all in.
Other delights include:
Jadot – 99 Boudots and RSV, 02 Corton-Charlemagne and 05 Griotte-Chambertin
Pavelot – 99 Dominode and Narbantons
Contino Rioja
I know it’s not Burgundy, but I couldn’t resist this parcel which has just been removed from a Yorkshire cellar where it has remained unmoved since imported. Labels are all damp affected to some extent, but levels are all bottom of neck or better.
1981, 1982, 1985 (magnum) and 1987.
Yum!
Henri Jouan, Morey
Not a well-known producer in the UK (where the wines have never been imported to my knowledge) but lovely traditional wines that can be compared to Truchot, or perhaps a more rustic version of Fourrier. Clive Coates notes (in The Wines of Burgundy) “wines of medium body only, which evolve soon, but the two top wines have no lack of intensity and elegance”. The top two wines are the Clos St Denis and the Morey 1er Clos Sorbe.
I was very impressed when I tasted the current releases at the domaine earlier this year, so was delighted to pick up a nice parcel of village Gevrey, Clos Sorbe and CSD from 1999 to 2006.
Pick n Mix
Our customary selection of tempting Burgundies offered by the bottle. An eclectic mix, from ’89 Chablis to ’08 Roumier – the Bussiere that I rated so highly when tasted from bottle earlier this year. We also have some ’08 Roulot Luchets and, for Christmas, the outstanding 2000 Fonseca – in bottle and (for the brave, foolhardy or merely profligate) in magnum.
As ever, if there is something you want to grab, please give me a call (01609 777650) or drop me an email.
All the best,
Peter
