Do your prices include VAT ? TOP

We are in the process of updating the way we present prices across the website, and apologise for any confusion we might create in the meantime.

At present all prices shown on the "product detail page", i.e. at the point at which you can order, include VAT and duty, UNLESS "in bond".

However whilst browsing the site (when the catalogue view shows 3 columns of labels) not all prices include VAT.

On items where the description includes "in bond" or "ex-VAT" -  then duty/VAT is added to the base price so that at the point of order a "UK VAT & duty paid" price is shown. On these items, VAT can be reclaimed and we can supply the goods free of VAT for export outside the E.C.

On all other items (including where the description includes "VAT & duty paid") - VAT is included in the price shown at all times. In some cases the VAT is not reclaimable, as these goods are sold under a marginal VAT scheme. Trade and export customers are welcome to contact us for further clarification.

What are the payment options ? TOP

For UK orders, payment can be made by cheque, PayM, direct bank transfer or by card - Visa, Mastercard, Solo/Switch and Visa Debit cards are accepted, as well as payment by PayPal. Please be assured that our website offers a fully secure card transaction capability, and that your card details are not retained on our server after completion of the transaction. We do recommend payment on the website as the fastest and easiest method.

All orders from customers outside the UK and/or for delivery outside the UK must be paid in advance by wire/bank transfer. You may place an order online, but please use the "payment by cheque" option, as below.

If you prefer not to pay online, then please enter your order as normal and click on "Checkout". After entering your address details please select the "Cheque/Bank Transfer" option, click on "Order Now". We will contact you to arrange payment by one of the following methods :
- Direct bank transfer. We will provide our account details to you, agree how the transfer should be identified, and then ship on receipt of the funds into our account.
- PayM (payment by smartphone for UK customers only). We will provide our PayM number to you on receipt of order, and then ship on receipt of the funds into our account.
- Personal cheque (UK customers only). We will ship your order within five working days of receipt of the cheque.
- By credit or debit card over the phone (UK issued cards only). If you provide us with your card details by phone we will carry out a "customer not present" terminal transaction, and will not retain your card details.

What do you charge for DELIVERY ? TOP

UK DUTY PAID DELIVERIES


Standard deliveries are between 8am and 5pm, 2 to 3 working days (weekdays except bank holidays) after the day on which we receive your order. During exceptionally busy periods, such as the run-up to Christmas, delivery hours are extended up to 7pm.

As well as delivering ourselves, we use APC couriers and Royal Mail, the choice depending on order size and region of the country.

The charge for standard delivery to a mainland U.K. address (excluding Scottish Highlands) is 10.00 + VAT - i.e. 12.00 including VAT. The charge is the same for any order size.

Provided that you give us 3 working days notice, deliveries can also be arranged as follows:

- Specified day before 5pm (working days only) - no additional charge.

- Specified day before Noon (working days only) for an additional charge of 5 +VAT.

- Specified day before 10.30am (working days only) for an additional charge of 10 +VAT.

Please add the special delivery to your basket, or phone us to arrange timed deliveries.

We also offer a reduced rate for deliveries to DL and TS postcodes only. Please add the local delivery charge to your basket, or call us to place your order.


IN BOND WINES

Most of our wines are held in bond at Vinotheque, near Derby; a few are at other warehouses. Collections, or transfers to another account at Vinotheque, are free of charge.

Transfers to other LCB warehouses cost 9.00 + VAT (10.80).
Transfers to all other bonded warehouses will be charged at cost, which is usually 15.00 + VAT (18.00), and this amount will be added to any online order for wines in bond.
Over the next months we will be adding the location of all in bond wines to the website. In the mean time please feel free to ask for details.

If you order on the website you will be charged the standard IB transfer cost of 18.00, but this is only an authorisation and we will confirm whether a free or reduced transfer cost applies before shipping and before taking payment from the authorisation.


EUROPEAN DELIVERIES

Within Europe, we are able to offer fully insured delivery via DHL. Below are some indicative costs, but please contact us for a current price.

Scottish Islands (postcodes HS and ZE) and the Scilly Isles are in Europe Zone 1. Please contact us for current delivery costs.

We can also supply on an ex-cellars basis. In this case, ownership of, and risk in, the goods passes to you on collection from our premises.

You may arrange collection yourself, or we will act as your agent to engage a carrier. This can be done at much lower cost, but you have to be willing to take the risk of loss or breakage, as the carrier's insurance cover usually excludes glass. In the table below are typical carriage rates operating on this basis :

WORLDWIDE DELIVERIES

For all other destinations we can arrange shipment by air, in polystyrene (styrofoam) packaging. Please call or email us for an up to date cost.

How long will my delivery take ? TOP

You should receive your wines within one week of placing the order with us.

We aim to despatch all orders within 2 working days. If this is not possible for any reason we will contact you within one working day of receiving your order to advise you of the delay and check whether you still want to place the order.

All orders are shipped by courier and will require a signature on delivery. If you are not in when the courier calls, they will leave a card with their contact details so that you can arrange a convenient date for re-delivery.

Do I need to be at home to receive the delivery ? TOP

Unless you request otherwise the courier has instructions to obtain a signature on delivery. This can be from anyone at the delivery address.

If you are unlikely to be at home and have somewhere safe to leave the wine, you can request delivery without signature during the checkout process.

Please use the Shopping Cart "Special Requests" box, before going to Payment. Enter "NO SIGNATURE" and details of a safe place where the courier is authorised to leave the wine.

PLEASE NOTE that if you select a "NO SIGNATURE" option, we do not accept any liability for the shipment after the courier has delivered it.

Can I return a delivery if I change my mind ? TOP

You can return goods you have ordered from us - provided that they are unopened and undamaged - for any reason at any time within 14 days of receipt for a full refund or exchange. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Can I reclaim VAT on my purchases ? TOP

For different items, we operate both standard and marginal VAT schemes. This means that on some items we do not invoice separately for VAT, and that you cannot reclaim input VAT on purchases from us.

On items where the description includes "ex-VAT" - VAT is added to the base price so that at the point of order a "UK VAT & duty paid" price is shown. On these items, VAT will be shown separately on your invoice and can be reclaimed. These items can also be supplied free of VAT for export outside the E.C.

On items where the description includes "VAT & duty paid" - VAT is included in the base price but is not reclaimable, as these goods are sold under a marginal VAT scheme. On these items, the base price is also the price for export outside the E.C.
