The Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir is a New Zealand classic, and the 2004 vintage is beautifully fragrant and well-balanced. It is drinking well now, but will hold for another four years or so.

Beautiful clear pure ruby at the core - just fades away at the rim, which is showing a touch of brick. Nose is lovely and clean with soft red fruits and a touch of undergrowth. Light but very classy. Mouth entry is savoury - spicy and earthy - with a touch of sweet red fruit. This builds nicely in intensity without really changing. No noticeable acidity, but beautifully balanced. The finish is long and spicy sweet, with just a touch of alcoholic heat detracting from an otherwise beautiful performance. Very good stuff.
