HPB Note

Bright medium ruby. Cool, slightly rustic nose, with earth, spice and strawberry and plum fruit. On the palate this is distinctively Vougeot : very earthy and a touch chocolatey, with red fruit and a touch dry on the finish. While this lacks the definition and flavour density of a Clos Vougeot, it is a very good example and lovely drinking.

As the wines of Vougeot often are, this is dominated by earth notes and dusty fruit with rustic, full-bodied flavors that offer solid complexity and good underlying structure. This has added both volume and weight since I last tasted it in barrel. Quite good in a frank, direct manner.

Bright deep red. Cool, nuance nose of cherry, leather and spice. Sweet and supple, with flavors of red fruits, spices and leather. Finishes with even, slightly dry tannins and a note of coffee bean.

The Vine

Full colour. Ample nose. But not a lot of style. Slightly animal and soft. Medium to medium-full body. Ripe and fruity, but the tannins are a little ungainly. Decent acidity.
